SYDNEY, SATURDAY: Suzie Maroney's brave attempt to circumnavigate Antarctica ended in tears on Saturday night after the champion distance swimmer stubbed her toe leaving the Coogee Bay Hotel after a night out with the girls.
Despite being lathered in protective grease, surrounded by a shark net and urged on through loud hailers by her support team, Maroney's gutsy swim faltered at it's first hurdle, the door frame separating the Garden Bar and the beer garden at the popular Sydney watering hole.
Obviously inebriated and emotional, her blond locks matted across sweaty, tear-strewn cheeks, Maroney was physically put in a cab by concerned girlfriends, the conqueror of Cuba-USA crying "Where's Steeeve? The asshole. I love him! Asshole!"
'Steve' was unavailabe for comment as he was on the piss with 'Jonno'.
