Before: Royal Perth |

So yes—the Vines, in Swan Valley 35min north of Perth, a place where they make wine then ship it around Australia and then world and relax by playing golf, watching telly and having the occasional scratch. These Western Australians have things well in order.Have a go a little baby Skip. Gangly little man, before I could close enough to take a better picture he hopped off like a very fast drunk fleeing police.
And so it’s goodbye Perth—super city of cricket and golf and Belgian beer and mussels. The muscles are aching from so much golf—38 rounds in 50 days, something like it—so gonna have a bit of a golf hiatus for the next … bit, until about Jan 10 when we lob in Mt.Isa in the middle of Queensland, if we get there what with Cyclone Billy making Broome and surrounds rather windy.
Lots of wind in this state of Western Australia, it’s a super state, Margaret River and surf-golf-wine livin’ you could very used to, but onwards we hark, or whatever, travelling with Photographer Jane for next month or so Billy willing, gonna do a bunch of “camping” which is when you don’t live in 5-star white-sheeted luxury as has been the case thus far on this rather odd odyssey but rather go to a camping supplies joint and spend $400 and pretend you don’t have a house to live in.
Had a night in Geraldton, saw the Incredible Pinnacles the day after that, the dolphins and other sights of Monkey Mia (monkey-dolphins?) before we drew into Exmouth and the fabled Ningaloo Reef Xmas for a couple days snorkelling and hoping a whale shark is confused it’s not the season for shagging other whale sharks. And with the thought of copulating leviathans fresh in mind I’ll bid you Merry Xmas and Superman bless.. |
